Main Street is the commercial core, running along the highway through town, with the banks, the pharmacy, the grocery and the clinic strung along it or one street off.

The larger story is freight. A truckload carrier is headquartered in Mondovi and employs several hundred people here, which means yard and lot surface built for tractor units rather than cars. That's a different specification from anything else in a town this size: heavier section, wider turning radii, and failure that shows up as rutting long before it shows up as a hole.
