Is a freshly sealed driveway slippery?
A sealed driveway is not slippery once the coat has cured, because sand mixed into the sealer is what gives the finished surface its grip.

What the sand is for
Sealer on its own dries smooth. Silica sand mixed into it before it goes down gives the finished coat the texture your shoes and your tires need, and it also makes the coat wear longer.
How much sand goes in is a real choice, not a detail. A flat driveway takes a standard load. A sloped drive, a ramp or a dock approach takes more, and it is worth saying out loud when you get the quote that your drive is on a hill.
The first few days
Fresh sealer is soft while it cures. It is slick underfoot and it scuffs under a tire that turns while stopped. That is the whole reason for the cure time, and it is normally 24 hours for a car and 48 before anything heavy.
After the first winter
A cured, sanded coat behaves like the asphalt did. It is no more slippery in rain or under snow than the surface was before, and salt and sand work on it the same way.
What does change over the years is the texture. As a coat wears, the sand at the surface goes with it, and a drive that is three years past its last coat is smoother than it was. That is the same wear that says it is time for the next one.
Steep drives and ramps
A drive that climbs hard, a ramp into a lower level, or a dock approach are the three places grip is worth raising before the work is scheduled rather than after. More sand in the mix costs almost nothing and it is a decision that has to be made while the material is being loaded.
It matters most in the first winter after a coat, when the surface is at its smoothest and the sand has not yet worn proud of the film.
